Study Says Taking Viagra Might Help You Live Longer!

It seems that Viagra not only helps in giving your erections (if you have erectile dysfunction) or strengthening your erections it may also have some benefits for your heart.

Study Says That Men That Have Had An Heart Attack Can Benefit From Taking Viagra.

Study Says That Men That Have Had An Heart Attack Can Benefit From Taking Viagra.

Men that have suffered from heart attacks before know that restarting their sex life again can look intimidating. However, if you make use of some kinds of erectile dysfunction drugs (like Viagra) as a form of assistance, you would be getting an essential health benefit.

This is because according to a research conducted in Sweden using Viagra (or other prescription erectile dysfunction drugs that contain similar ingredients) can reduce your risks of premature death.

The research scientists tracked the health of about 43,000 men for a 3 year period. These men had previously had a serious heart attack where they were hospitalized. 7 percent of the men were using drugs for erectile dysfunction as prescribed by their doctor.

The scientists found out that the men who were being treated for erectile dysfunction had 40 percent lesser chances of having serious heart failure and they also had 33 percent lesser chances of dying of any medical condition within the follow up period.

The researchers investigated further to find out just how these men were being treated for erectile dysfunction and they notice a clear pattern. It appeared that only the men that were using erectile dysfunction drugs that contained PDE5 inhibitors (i.e. Cialis or Viagra) were the ones that experience the lifespan elongating benefit.

The men that were taking Viagra or Cialis after they experienced their heart attack had a 38 percent lesser chance of dying during the follow up period than the men that were not using any erectile dysfunction drugs or the men that were taking Alprostadil (this is an injectable drug meant to treat erectile dysfunction).

To be clear about the facts, the study found no direct link between risk of premature death and use of Alprostadil.

Finding this simple fact out was necessary for the credibility of the study because the link between erectile dysfunction treatment and premature death could have been explained by simple associating it with sex, since going for erectile dysfunction treatment means having an active sex life which contributes and is also the sign of an overall healthier lifestyle.

However the study pinpointed it out that the longer life-span benefit was only recorded in the men that were taking drugs that contain PDE5 inhibitors. So, this suggests that the benefit has to do with that particular type of drug since it improves the health of the heart.

The scientists came up with different theories: it seems that PDE5 inhibitors help in reducing stiffness in the arteries and may also allow more blood to flow into the heart – this keeps heart attack away.

But there still needs to be more research studies to help explain properly the link between Viagra and reduced risk of premature deaths. And there also needs to be studies on whether leaving erectile dysfunction untreated or having an active sex life without taking any erectile dysfunction drugs affects the occurrence of heart attacks.

Going by the result of the study, men that have experienced an attack are safe to take Viagra, Cialis or any other prescription drugs that contain PDE5 inhibitors because you get both stronger erections and a healthier heart.

Cheers… and have a great sex life!
